What are AIS designated waters?
When an ANS is discovered, signs like the one shown here will be prominently posted at the water body.
- These waters are known to contain aquatic invasive species and are posted with signs listing the AIS species in that water
- It is illegal to possess live fish when leaving an AIS-designated water (including baitfish)
- There is an exception for department-permitted fishing tournaments (see KAR 115-07-10)
- A list of AIS Designated Waters can be found in the regulations book or online at ProtectKSWaters.org
