Baitfish Harvest and Regulations
- Always dispose of unused baitfish responsibly. Don't release unwanted bait in the water or on the ground. (KAR 115-8-12)
- Use bait where you can catch it.

Live baitfish must be used only within the drainage where it was caught and cannot be transported or used above any upstream dam or barrier that prohibits the normal passage of fish.
(KAR 115-07-36) - Exception: Bluegill and green sunfish taken from non-AIS designated waters may be used as live bait anywhere in the state.
